Week 10: Worked on Library Project1 Book, Reader and Shelf

    1. With whom did you work? I worked with my team Tasneem and Liam.
  2. What was your strategy for solving the assignments?
    1. Did you start writing code right away? Did you plan it out on paper? 
      1. My strategy was first reviewing everything before I started to write any code. I was trying to understand each piece and make it make sense to me. Sometimes I have a difficult time understanding something that is a little abstract so its better for me to start writing down and looking at the bigger picture to understand the smaller pieces. 
  1. What was THEIR strategy for solving the assignments
    1. My team mates used a similar strategy and asked for help when needed. I think maybe I should start doing the same. As I sometimes spend too much time trying to understand what some methods do. 
  2. How would you change your strategy having worked on the assignment?
    1. In the future I will reach out for help as something as I said I spent too much time just trying to understand what a method is trying to do. 
  3. According to your classmate(s):
    1. They did not bring up if I followed the Java doc correctly and I forgot to ask them about that. I will do it in the future.

CST438 Software Engineering: Week 1

What did you expect a course in Software Engineering would cover? I expected it to cover how to build applications from the ground up and the design behind application development. I thought we would look at other things we’ve been learning in this program, like database management, front end development, and back end work, and then put it all together into one complete project. After completing week 1, how has your opinion changed? Well, I never really thought much about keeping an application’s design maintainable for future improvements or changes. There is a lot more that goes into software engineering than just simple programming. It is  about planning ahead, documenting your work, checking for errors, and testing properly to avoid issues later. CST370 Week 5

Hello everyone,  This week we studied binary‑tree traversals preorder, inorder, and postorder but I kept mixing them up. I finally got it when I attended TA office hours, and it clicked. Walking through Quick Sort step by step helped me see how the Decrease and Conquer approach works by breaking problems into smaller chunks. Then we looked at Kahn’s algorithm, and watching it remove nodes with no incoming edges reminded me of picking a pivot in Quick Sort. Seeing these patterns repeat helped me realize that many algorithms work by simplifying things piece by piece.
