Week 2 Summary:

Part 1: Review and Reflect Learning Strategy

After reviewing and reflecting on my Learning Strategy, I think I am good at surveying the entire picture before I start studying. I plan what needs to need to be reviewed and depending on how much understanding I have for the material I allocate sufficient time. During Multiple-choice questions on the test, I am quick to look at the ones that I can eliminate quickly and not waste time narrowing down the possible answers to a few. I also do well in extracting important details from the text, the main idea.

I would say I need to work on not studying 30 minutes before bedtime, I sometimes do it. In addition, I need to work on my handwriting sometimes I rush my writing it does not come out well. Also, removing distractions is a deficient on my part, I tend to get distracted easily.

Part 2: Preview Time Management Skills

Part 3: Project Management Basics

A project is a time limited object or goal that has a beginning and ending date.  It has phases such as starting, planning, executing, observing, controlling, and closing the process. Only a few projects make it to the market, about a quarter. More than 30% of projects are cancelled, in the even a project makes it to market it only retains 42% of its original features. Reasons why projects fail are because of unmet cost, scope, and quality management.  A project manager is responsible for ensuring that the project is completed. The project manager needs to display leadership, communication, information technology, accounting, and problem-solving skills. The project work-breakdown structure is composed of an oriented hierarchy. The project manager has his team execute and accomplish project objectives and create outcomes. Grant Charts are helpful to show the projects schedule using bar graphs with start and finish goals. They provide a clear picture of deadly and how the project is progressing.

Part 4: Check Out Previous Capstones

what was type of the project?  Was the project well done?  How do you like the presentation?  Can the project and presentation be improved?

I looked at three capstone projects, the first one included MyPlanner.garden. This project focused on helping users grow a garden with reminders, plant identification technology, and giving tips on what plans grow in their zone. I liked the idea overall; the narrator’s voice was smooth and explained everything very clearly. The project can be improved with better visuals and pictures for the website and the presentation could have used some bullet points to point out the major topics of the presentation. Over I enjoyed watching and learning about MyPlanner.garden.

The second capstone project I reviewed was Jury Lookup. This project made it easier for potential jurors and county staff to schedule appointments easier and look up jury dates. The project made postponing and looking up jury appointments very user friendly. I project itself was great, I see nothing to be worked on. However, the presentation could use work, as the first narrator was speaking unenthusiastic and very slowly.

Finally, the last capstone project I reviewed was the Badge Project. The project helps teachers and students set sitting assignments, instructions numbers and send messages to students. I believe the presentation needed a little work on presenting the material. The presentation was flicking to a green screen, distracting what was being presented. I liked the graphical animations on the website.

Part 5: Summarize Your Week on Your Learning Journal

This week was busy, but everything was completed on time, I learned about the importance of time management. Had I not managed my time wisely it would have led to rushing to finish my assignment, stressing me out. I learned what projects, what they require such as a start and finish date, how they are managed, and what things can go wrong. I also learned about studying skills and how inefficient study just wastes time and no real benefits are gained. The capstone projects were interesting to review. I got a chance to see what I should expect at the end of this program.

Comments

  1. Hi Adan, your time management schedule looks very busy, but doable. It is nice to see that you have maintained a scheduled routine, to get whatever it is that you want done on time. You have incorporated morning walks, work, Cs Online homework time, and some free time for yourself everyday. Your schedule is similar to mine as I have tried to incorporate some free/family time as well as at least 2 hours for CS Online everyday, amidst my busy schedule as well. Great post!

  2. Hey Adan, You have a great morning routine. One suggestion: try to keep your lunch time consistent every day. It can help with maintaining steady energy levels, which is super important for staying focused on your assignments. Also, maybe be a bit more specific with your classwork time. Instead of just 'work on class assignments and projects,' you could break it down into specific tasks. For example, I include our group meetup times in my weekly schedule.
