Week 6

Part 1: Help Your Teammates to Develop Capstone Ideas 1. It would be fun to use a Raspberry Pi to read inputs from sensors in a parking garage and have an app let you know available spaces for parking.  Each parking space would have a sensor to see if a parking space has been taken and it would rely on that information back to a database.  A user could log into the account, and it would display the availability of parking space. It would be a very good application to have in a big city to help find parking places. 2. A home improvement application that lets homeowners upload large projects and have license contractors bid on the project. If the project is small like a hole in a drywall also allow handymen to apply for small projects. It would be a win-win for home homeowners to allow for price shopping and for contractors to find work. There can be reviews left on the project completed by the contractors and contractors can leave feedback on the homeowner....

Part One: Set Your Educational Goals   Part Two: Possible Capstone Ideas (30 minutes) After viewing at least 3 presentations of Capstone, list three possible capstone projects you might choose to do at the end of your study. These sample project ideas which you may or may not pursue.  It would be fun to use a Raspberry Pi to read inputs from sensors in a parking garage and have app let you know available spaces for parking.   Each parking space would have a sensor to see if a parking space has been taken and it would rely on that information back to a database.   A user could log into the account, and it would display the availability of parking space. Week 4:

Part One: Set Your Educational Goals My educational goals are broken down into smaller size goals because it could become overwhelming thinking of all the classes that need to complete. I break down my educational goals down to an assignment level and within that assignment level I break it down into sections. I decided to make a checklist of what assignments are due that week, as I complete each one, I check each off. I can visualize my progress using the checklist. I keep track of how many weeks, using a weekly module checklist, before the next class starts. I keep my Individual Learning Plan next to my desk to help me stay focused on my goal of finishing this degree. Like the assignment and module checklist I would like to check off the classes. Each check mark off one of my checklists gets me one small step closer to the goal of receiving my degree. It keeps me motivated and organized. I also reflect on the beginning its amazing how much we can grow in a short amount of tim...

Week 3: Weekly Learning Post

Part 1 Last week I chose to improve my late study times. However, I think sometimes I overstudy or worry too much about assignments. I decided to explore general stress reductions tips. I agree and I believe I am starting early so I won’t be pressed for time. I also agree that long hours of studies sometimes aren’t as productive, and I will work on taking more breaks in between study sessions. I will add more exercises routines in between study hours. Part 2 This week we explored the different ethical frame works. It’s interesting what motivates people to do one thing in case but another person the opposite. I found it fascinating to reflect that sometimes there is no “right” or “wrong” answer but instead to view from a different angle, on what is the rational or motive behind the reasoning a decision. Social and culture influences us a lot of our decisions on what is moral or not.       Part 3 A Computer Science Major needs to know various things to be...

Week 2 Summary:

Part 1: Review and Reflect Learning Strategy After reviewing and reflecting on my Learning Strategy, I think I am good at surveying the entire picture before I start studying. I plan what needs to need to be reviewed and depending on how much understanding I have for the material I allocate sufficient time. During Multiple-choice questions on the test, I am quick to look at the ones that I can eliminate quickly and not waste time narrowing down the possible answers to a few. I also do well in extracting important details from the text, the main idea. I would say I need to work on not studying 30 minutes before bedtime, I sometimes do it. In addition, I need to work on my handwriting sometimes I rush my writing it does not come out well. Also, removing distractions is a deficient on my part, I tend to get distracted easily. Part 2: Preview Time Management Skills Part 3: Project Management Basics A project is a time limited object or goal that has a beginning and ending dat...

Module 2 Lecture Summary

The future is faster than you think  Summary Technology is transforming business models and accelerating rapidly. We are living in a time where innovation is more possible than ever thanks to technology. 1. Computation Abundance  We are living in a time where computers are cheaper but are faster than ever before. Over the last 50 years transistors have doubled every 12 to 18 months. With all the computation abundance leads to faster networks and sensors, synthetic biology, robotics, 3D printing to name a few.   2. Time saved  We have more time to focus on solving problems and being innovative. Before humans needed to spend a lot of time doing other things to survive such as collecting food. Through technology and innovation, we need to spend less time on those things, and we can focus our energy on more meaningful things.  3. Capital Abundance There is an abundance of capital which can be used for crowdfundi...
